Modern Mythos
This series is a reinvention of Roman deities and demigods viewed through the lens of modern irreverence. This ongoing work is meant to explore and highlight the contrast between classical ideals and contemporary social automation. The modus operandi being: subversion of traditional imagery and art concepts by means of simplification and demystification. Modern Mythos challenges traditional concepts and tropes in classical Roman and Greek art by juxtaposing them with 21st century ideology. Cupid sends texts instead of hurling arrows. Diana no longer hunts, but instead orders pizza. Venus seductively floats in the ocean in search of an even tan. The Faun's natural stomping grounds are replaced by garbage heaps and the relics of society. Bacchus mends his heartburn. The modern mythos is lazy and tired. Welcome to the modern age.
